2009 SJGA Tournament Point System
a  modified version of the
Knuth Tournament Point System™

Players or teams that finish in the top 2 net places over the field in an event will be assigned the following number of points.
 

1. Once a player accumulates 6 points, their course handicap for SJGA tournaments will be reduced by two strokes.

2. After reaching the 6 point threshold, players will have their course handicap reduced 1 stroke for every 2 additional points.

3. Receiving points is unrelated to prize distribution. It is conceivable that a player may finish as the 1st or 2nd low net over the field but also place as a gross winner.

4. Points will accumulate for two calendar years, the current year as well as the previous year. For example: any points earned in 2009 will be added to points earned in 2008 to determine a player’s current tournament point value.

5. Since a different system was used previously, tournament points have been recalculated for the 2009 system.
