Kaitlyn White is a graduate of Oakcrest High School. She was ranked 20th out of 368 graduating seniors and maintained an unweighted average of 92.8 and a weighted average of 95.1 while taking the most rigorous Honors and Advanced Placement classes her schedule would allow. Her combined SAT score composite on the new exam was a 1600. One mentor states,” Throughout her high school career, Kaitlyn has forged an excellent academic reputation. Her work is thoughtful and does not bear the superficial markings so commonly found in today’s students. It is obvious that she exerts a great deal of energy in planning and completing her assignments. Her work is passionate and reveals a mature, worldly view seldom found among her peers..” She has inducted into the National Honor Society in 11th grade. Prior to that, she was a member of Junior NHS. “Kaitlyn’s high motivation and industrious attitude towards academics is paralleled by her interest and enthusiasm in sports. She has provided the expert leadership and dedication to the school in general and both the varsity field hockey and golf teams, serving as the captain of each,” states her guidance counselor. “She shows expert decision-making skills; her views and decisions are not emotional or whimsical, but instead reflect a high understanding of what is necessary for the good of the order and what is needed to add to our team’s ‘esprit de corps’,” comments her golf coach. Kaitlyn was named a Varsity Scholar. She has been active in the Girls’ Athletic Association for two years and sat on the Executive Board. Leading by example is a key component to effective leadership. Kaitlyn honed her skills as a four year member of the Student Council where she played an active role in developing activities for the school’s student body. Several of these activities include a Fall Blood Drive and Food Drive, Seminar Luncheons for Senior Citizens and Field Hockey sponsored Car Wash from 2002-2004 As a result of her involvement, she was invited to the Global Young Leaders Conference in 2003 and to the National Youth Leadership Conference in 2005. Kaitlyn’s boundless energy can also be found in her genuine concern for her community. She volunteers for the Special Olympics and works at Brian’s Run which is a fundraiser in memory of a teacher’s son who passed away from leukemia. She has also been active at her church’s Vacation Bible School as a group leader and participated in Volleyball-ATHONS to support community projects. States her field hockey coach,” Kaitlyn approaches everything she does with great enthusiasm, genuine interest and a desire to succeed. I believe her success will flow, not solely from her intellectual abilities, but also from her extremely positive attitude.” Kaitlyn will be attending the University of Maryland. She is undecided on a major.
Matthew Domin is a graduate of Haddon Township High School. Matt successfully completed his academic program, acquiring a rank of 84 out of 169 seniors. He was a member of the Technology Honor Society. His school counselor has stated,” His transcript indicates his commitment to academics and his desire to be challenged in many areas. He possesses the intellectual ability and perseverance needed to succeed, regardless of the subject matter - he is an “educational ‘jack of all trades.’” His GPA of 4.07 and a combined SAT of 1580 only tell one aspect of his four years at HTHS. As a four year member of both the basketball team and golf teams, he assumed the captaincy in both sport. Additionally, in the 9th - 10th grades, Matt was the captain of the soccer team. As the captain of the golf team with a nine hole average of 41, Matt has exuded all the attributes a leader needs. He leads by example. While not the #1 golfer, he is, as his coach states, “a student of the game. For example, when we go to the driving range, this is the type of kid who practices with a purpose. He knows what parts of his game need improvement and works hard to accomplish his goals. Matt is reliable, someone I can always depend upon and is there when you need him.” Beyond academics and sports, Matt has, over the four years at HTHS, been ardently involved in school and community service. His school counselor wrote, “Being involved comes easily to Matt and even though his activities are numerous and varied, one chord remains constant; Matt is a caring and helpful young man. Humanistic endeavors are a priority to him and he derives much gratification in assisting others. Through his work as a Cross-age mentor, peer counselor and planning board member of the Holy Saviour Catholic Church Youth Ministry, Matt has aided many. From organizing food drives to helping the homeless and fellow students, his efforts have made our community a better place.” This Fall, Matt will be attending Monmouth University to study Business Administration.
Vincent Weeks is a graduate of Triton Regional High School. While in attendance, Vince took the most rigorous curriculum available to him, including six Advanced Placement courses. Over the four years of his academic program, he maintained a 4.36 GPA and was ranked 7th out of a graduating class of 359. On the new SAT Exam, Vince scored a 2010 combined with 670 in Critical Reading, 740 on Math and a 700 in Writing. He was inducted into the National Honor Society in 11th grade. According to his senior science teacher,” Occasionally you encounter one of those rare students who, not only succeed academically, but are also fun and inspiring to teach. Vince is one of those students. As a senior in my AP Environmental Science class, he excels due to his interest and genuine concern for the environment. He demonstrates an aptitude for logical and abstract thinking which is the reason why he has maintained an A average in a very challenging course.” Vince was quite active in all aspects of student life at TRHS. He has been on the Swim Team 10th-12th grades and was chosen as the Captain. From 10th-12th, he played varsity golf and was again named team Captain with the lowest average on the team with a 39.5 for nine holes. He had a 5th place finish in the Camden County Tournament in 2006.Coach Ferrante states, ”as a player, Vince has developed from barely making the team as a sophomore to being ranked #1 as a senior. He is the leader of the golf team; he volunteers his time to the younger players in helping them with their swings, He demonstrates integrity on and off the course.” Vince’s extracurricular club activity showed a sincere commitment. He was the Captain of the Academic Challenge Bowl from 9th-12th. He was a member of the Varsity Board of the Chess Team 11th-12th, the Environmental Club 10th-12th where he was the Treasurer and Co-President in 11th-12th respectively. His longevity in an activity is most evident in the 4 year membership in the French Club as well as several others. Vince’s commitment defines his leadership ability. He, in addition to all listed above, was the Class Treasurer from 10th-12th grades. Additionally, he was a three year member of the Math Club and served as its Vice-President and Secretary. Community Service often defines a person’s character. Whether it was the Special Olympics, the M.S. or Diabetes Walks, a “Senior Citizens” dance or simply tutoring ,Vince committed his time from 9th-12th grades. Vince has received the Triple A Award for Achievement, Athletics and Academics and has been named a Bloustein Scholar. He will be attending Skidmore College, accepted as one of 646 students out of an applicant pool of 6,600.As stated by his guidance counselor, “Vincent’s character is impeccable; he continually demonstrates all of the personal attributes one could desire in a young man. One of the qualities that I find so refreshing in Vincent is the self-confidence he uses to make choices that may not always be popular, but are truly his own. He is ‘his own person’ who sets trends, not follows them. This may seem like such a minor thing, but at the high school level where peer pressure is the norm, Vincent has always stood out with his individuality and independent thinking.”
